Luis Diego Herra (Costa Rica)

Luis Diego Herra (born in San José de Costa Rica, 1952) is composer, conductor and have been professor of composition, musical analysis, orchestra and choir conducting, as well as professor of "Informatics for musicians". From 1995 to 1999 he was Dean of Fine Arts at the University of Costa Rica.

Herra wrote many pieces for chamber and orchestra, and during 1982 also composed "Hálitos" for brass quintet and tape, receiving in 1984 the National Prize for this work.

Luis Diego Herra is a founding member of "Centro de Música Contemporánea" of Costa Rica ("Contemporary Music Center").
