Jean-Pierre Boyer, born in 1950, is the cofounder of the Centre de recherche en imagerie populaire at the University of Quebec at Montreal (UQAM), and is currently a professor in the UQAM's Department of Communication. Boyer is also a photographer, video maker, art historian, and archivist.

The Jean-Pierre Boyer collection features video works from 1971 to 1979 and related printed documents. Although small, this collection (acquired in 2004) is of great importance for the Daniel Langlois Foundation archives since Boyer was a witness and actor of the video scene in Montreal in the seventies. He was also a close friend of Steina and Woody Vasulka during the Kitchen years in New York and Buffalo.
