At the exhibition Utopier & Visioner 1871-1981,
which was held at the Moderna Museet (Stockholm, Sweden) in 1971 and organized by Karl Gunnar Pontus Hultén, E.A.T. set up a telecommunication system using teleprinters that linked the cities of New York, Stockholm, Ahmedabad (India) and Tokyo. In forwarding questions to speakers in each city, participants were asked to envision the world in the year 1981 (110 years after the Paris Commune in 1871, which served as the exhibition's theme). The questions and remarks reflected the participants' specific cultural baggage and the political and social issues of the day.
