Robby Robinson

At Bell Telephone Laboratories (Murray Hill, NJ) during the 1960's, Robby Robinson focused primarily on researching cellular telephony. For 9 Evenings, he built several TEEM components (amplifiers and decoders).

In 1968, he was asked by Robert Rauschenberg to design a device used in Soundings (1968) to modulate light sources in accordance with audio levels. He also installed the automatic sliding doors in Rauschenberg's work Solstice, presented at Documenta 4 in Kassel in 1968.
