In 1974, Sonia Sheridan acquired the Versatile Quality Copier I by 3M. Using the silver oxide powder from the Color-in-Color in the VQC, she produced a series of highly contrasted and textured prints. Covering certain zones of the receptor paper during the initial exposure, she passed the paper through the machine a second time to add layers of images (she would sometimes repeat this process multiple times). The results were palimpsests that often mixed graphic elements with text.
