Dutch Electronic Art Festival 2000 : Machine Times

(Rotterdam, The Netherlands)

V2_Organisation, the Institute for the Unstable Media, is an interdisciplinary centre for art and media technology located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. V2_ was founded in 1981 by a group of multimedia artists in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. Since 1987, it has focused on presenting international developments in machine art and electronic and media art. V2_ is actively involved in the Dutch Virtual Platform, the Rotterdam Media Agenda, the European Network of Cyberart, and the European Cultural Backbone.

The Daniel Langlois Foundation partially funded the exhibition component of DEAF 2000, the Dutch Electronic Art Festival held once every two years in Rotterdam and organized by V2_Organisation (1). The theme and the title of the festival was Machine Times. DEAF 2000 took a close look at the role time plays in forming our technological reality. The exhibition has presented a wide range of work from artists all over the world, including interactive installations, Internet, CD-ROM, video, performance, sound, and machine art projects. The festival took place from November 14 to 26, 2000.
