Oonya Kempadoo - Project Lead/Manager

  • Oonya Kempadoo is a citizen of Guyana, Grenada and England, is an internationally published author and works in the Caribbean region as a social development researcher and creative writer.


Karina Cultural Group:



Gerard and Miranda Langlais - Cultural Leaders

  • Founders of the Karina Cultural Group and longstanding Kalinago cultural leaders and performers for over 25 years, Gerard and Miranda Langlais have built a reputation for the group locally in Dominica and have bridged the seas to the neighbouring islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique, Antigua, St. Maarten, Tortola, Trinidad, Suriname, Guyana and French Guyana. The group has won several awards including Dominica’s highest cultural award, the E.O. Leblanc award.


Marianna Sanford - Project Coordinator

  • Secretary to the Karina Cultural Group, Ms Sanford also works with the Ministry of Youth and is pursuing a degree in Social Work, with a minor in Youth Development work.


Reny Auguiste - Project Facilitator

  • Mr Auguiste is a long standing performing member of the Karina Cultural Group and Assistant Secretary.


Kevin Dangleben - Workshop Facilitator

  • Mr Dangleben is the owner and operator of Kalinago Tours, an entrepreneur and ex secondary school teacher. He has collaborated and supported the work of the Karina Cultural Group for many years and is concerned with Kalinago cultural patrimony and community socio-economic gain.
