It is a space for the flute to travel. A little about imagination, the city and words.

In the past few years I have dedicated my compositions to chamber pieces with tape and electronics, and Babel is part of a full length CD project called Manifiesto with some of my recent mixed pieces.
The gathering of sounds that surround us, sounds that interact with us constantly and their possible transformations are the main sound sources for the tape part of Babel.
The sounds were recorded in Spain, France and Mexico City, and then transformed and included in the piece at the composer's personal studio and at Agon and Tangatamanu Strudios in Milan, Italy.
The piece is dedicated to Stefano Scarani and was premiered by Mr. Harrie Starreveld who also recorded the version available on CD. Since then many other performers have Babel as part of their repertoire, including Mr. Itsvan Matuz, Alejandro Escuer, Gullermo Portillo and others. Babel is usually performed in different countries and was selected for the 1998 Sonic Circuits Festival in the US.
The piece was originally conceived for flute, tape and live electronics using a Max patch and a digital mixer to transform some of the flute sections in real time and Mr. Starrevled's version included in Manifiesto and other pieces are also available from the web site (www.rodrigosigal.com)
