The Daniel Langlois Foundation makes a 1 million $ donation for the purchase of the Ex-Centris movie theaters

The Ex-Centris building
Montreal, April 8, 2011 - The Daniel Langlois Foundation is proud to contribute to the purchase of the Ex-Centris movie theaters complex by Cinéma Parallèle through a one million dollar exceptional grant.

The Foundation grant is designed to help finance the conversion of the largest theater of the Ex-Centris complex back into its initial movie theater configuration as well as the installation of newer digital screening equipment.

This acquisition project is also made possible by the contributions of the ministère Québécois de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine, the SODEC and the City of Montreal through its « Imaginer-Réaliser Montréal 2025 » agreement with the ministère des Affaires municipales, des Régions et de l'Occupation du Territoire.

The mission of Cinéma Parallèle is to promote the diffusion of independent cinema and the discovery of new writers and directors (from Quebec as well as internationally) and to encourage the diffusion of cinematographic genres (experimental films, documentaries and shorts) usually unavailable at commercial film venues. The works presented are fresh, visionary, and daring; they stand as a testimony to their era, and to our cultural development as a whole.
