Born in 1963 in Hamilton (Ontario), Laura Kikauka divides her time between Meaford (Ontario) and Berlin (Germany). Kikauka’s installations and electro-mechanical sculptures incorporate her collections of obsolete electronic objects, anonymous crafts, and all things kitsch. Her germinal work The Funny Farm continues to morph as it is reconfigured to new sites and times. Kikauka’s work has been exhibited across Canada as well as in Mexico, Japan, Russian, Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, Korea, New Zealand, the United States, and Chile. Permanent installations of her work are on view at the Wolfsburg Science Museum (Wolfsburg, Germany) and at the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen in Berlin (Germany)
