Michael Snow, De La, 1969-72
Michael Snow is based in Toronto (Ontario), where he was born, but he has also spent time in Montreal, Chicoutimi (Quebec), and New York (NY, U.S.). A painter and sculptor since 1962, he has been making work across media such as film, photography, and holography. An accomplished musician, he continues to perform solo and with various ensembles; most often with the Canadian Creative Music Collective (CCMC) of Toronto.

His work is represented in private and public collections world-wide including the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa, Ontario), the Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto, Ontario), the Museum of Modern Art (New York, NY, U.S.), the Museum Ludwig (Cologne, Germany), the Centre Georges-Pompidou (Paris, France), and both the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (Montreal, Quebec). He has received numerous awards for his ground-breaking work, including an honorary doctorate by the Université de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris, France) in 2004. He was made a companion to the Order of Canada in 2007.
